Deal Health Scoring
Coach Pilot scores every deal from 0 to 100 using a 9-category weighted model, with critical gates and colour-coded health bands to give you an honest, data-driven view of pipeline health.
Deal Health Scoring is at the heart of Coach Pilot's pipeline intelligence. Every deal in your pipeline receives a health score from 0 to 100, calculated across 9 weighted categories. This universal scoring model gives you an objective, data-driven assessment of each deal's true health — eliminating guesswork and happy ears.
The 9-Category Model
Each deal is evaluated across the following categories, each with a specific weight reflecting its importance to deal success:
Problem Statement Quality (15 pts) — Is the prospect's problem clearly defined and validated? Critical Gate.
Discovery Brief / Post-Meeting Notes (15 pts) — Has thorough discovery been conducted and documented? Critical Gate.
Business Impact & Business Case Evidence (20 pts) — Is there quantified business impact and a compelling business case? Critical Gate.
Buying Committee Coverage (15 pts) — Have you identified and engaged the key decision-makers and influencers?
Internal "Project" Exists (10 pts) — Does the prospect have an internal initiative or project driving the purchase?
Proposal Process Quality (10 pts) — Has a formal proposal been delivered with appropriate quality and alignment?
Commercial & Budget Alignment (10 pts) — Is there confirmed budget and commercial agreement?
Procurement / Vendor Path Clarity (5 pts) — Is the procurement process understood and on track?
Mutual Action Plan to Decision (10 pts) — Is there a shared, agreed plan leading to a decision?
Scoring Methodology
Each category is scored on a three-point scale:
0 = Missing — The information or action has not been addressed.
1 = Partial — Some progress has been made but the category is not fully covered.
2 = Complete and validated with buyer — Fully addressed and confirmed by the prospect.
The weighted scores across all 9 categories are combined to produce the final deal health score out of 100.
Critical Gates
Categories 1, 2, and 3 are designated as Critical Gates. These represent the fundamental building blocks of a healthy deal:
Problem Statement Quality
Discovery Brief / Post-Meeting Notes
Business Impact & Business Case Evidence
If any Critical Gate scores 0 (Missing), the deal is automatically marked Red regardless of the total score. This ensures you can't have a seemingly healthy deal when the fundamentals aren't covered. Even if every other category is perfect, a missing problem statement or business case means the deal is at risk.
Health Bands
The overall deal health score maps to three colour-coded bands for quick visual assessment:
Green (80–100) — On Track — The deal is progressing well with strong fundamentals.
Amber (60–79) — Watch — The deal needs attention; some areas require improvement.
Red (Below 60) — At Risk — The deal has significant gaps that need immediate action.
These health bands appear throughout Coach Pilot — on your Dashboard, in the Deals view, in the Forecast, and in Morning Briefings — so you always have an at-a-glance understanding of where each deal stands.
